Also a legal practitioner by profession, Rammit Kaur has evolved from a practising lawyer to in-house counsel bringing with her close to 18 years wealth of experience. She was the Head of Legal Services in the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration responsible for the successful transformation of the centre to a sought after and world reckoned Internatonal Commercial Arbitration Centre. She was responsible for the formulation and introduction of the Islamic finance arbitration rules which received the Global Arbitration Review’s Innovation Award in the year 2012. She was instrumental in the drafting of and revisions to the KLRCA Arbitration Rules 2013, Fast Track Rules, Mediation Rules and the i-Arbitration Rules. She was also part of the team responsible for the setting up of Arbitration case management system and Adjudication case management systems under the Construction Industry Payment Adjudication Act 2012. She works closely with the Malaysian government and work on the KLRCA’s proposals on the amendments to the Malaysian Arbitration Act and other enactment impacting arbitration. She played major role in the implementation of GST system for the case management and advising the arbitrators and stakeholders on the application of GST. She organised the Arbitration Practice and Procedure Workshop Series successfully and have worked extensively with the centre on the implementation of ADR trainings and courses in the past years.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of United Kingdom and an active committee member of its Malaysian branch. She is part of the Protem Committee member of the Malaysian Corporate Counsel Association and part of the team that led to the establishment of the association as a voice for the corporate counsels in Malaysia.
Having worked with other prominent organisations including Messrs David Lingam, KTM Berhad, PRASARANA and Wasco Energy, Rammit has developed her expertise in the areas of commercial litigation, transportation and logistics, oil & gas, project advisory, contract management, legal counsel related advisory, extensive contractual drafting and negotiation. In the past 5 years with the KLRCA she has developed expertise in the alternative dispute resolution arena and constantly invited to speak in international conferences and forums.
As a legal practitioner by profession SFara Sharif brings wealth of experience gained in the shipping, transportation and banking industries. Having worked with prominent Malaysian companies including MISC Logistics and Warehousing, MIDF and PRASARANA, her career developed as she played a key role in the strategic planning and launching a new shipbuilding company in Thailand and the moved to Singapore to work with Ishima Pte Ltd, a ship management company. Her experience covers in-house legal counsel, business development, human resource, contract and tender management.
